我在去年年中有幸被 lululemon 总部委托,为大中华区创作了2022年新春主视觉插画,这也是lululemon第一次选择将作品应用在全国的店铺装饰和节日购物包装上,作为新春的专属限定。

作为本土创作者,我在构思的时候首先会向自己提问,记忆中有没有什么印象深刻的瞬间或者象征符号可以表达新年祝福。相比直白的话语,以物寄情的传统形式往往更内敛,私人和包容。比如老妈在行李中放苹果,又系上平安结,这些平凡的时刻可以是最好的灵感。所以围绕中国结的形式,我提供了一个可以通过了解传统“编织”方式无限延伸的创作,所有元素可以自由组合。最后,结合lulu自己的文化,我想看到它的观众们也可以获得许多新的解读。比如联结在一起的人群与中国结的象征意义可以对照,柔软肢体和夸张动作呼应了瑜伽训练和良好状态等等。

就像编织出新颖独特的中国结需要先了解基本手法和形式一样,这次合作的新年主视觉创作我同样希望能够在大家所熟悉的传统文化和风俗中开始讲故事,以自信地态度赋予活力和创造性解读来获得延续。


As a local creator, I start my design by asking myself if any memorable moment or symbol in my memory can express my New Year wishes. Compared to straightforward words, the traditional form of sending a message with something is often more intimate and inclusive. For example, when my mother put apples in my luggage and tied a peace knot, these ordinary moments can be the best inspiration. 

So based on the form of the Chinese knot, I provided a creative way that could be extended infinitely through an understanding of traditional 'weaving', where all the elements could be freely combined. Finally, I think the viewers who see it can also gain many new interpretations by combining it with lulu's culture. Such as the linked groups of people in contrast to the symbolism of the Chinese knot, the soft limbs and exaggerated movements echoing yoga training and good form, etc.

Just like weaving a new and unique Chinese knot requires an understanding of basic techniques and forms, I wanted to start telling a story within the familiar traditions and customs of this New Year's Eve collaboration, giving it a vibrant and creative interpretation that would be carried forward with confidence.
